The final chapter of the Netflix film, to All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was released on 12 February, just in time for Valentine’s day and takes the name of ‘To All the Boys: Always and Forever.’ The first instalment of the sweet and cosy movie was released in 2018 and the second around the same time last year in 2020. The story is all about a Korean American girl, Lara Jean Song Covey (Lana Condor) who is going through her high school years and about to embark on her university journey, whilst also exploring the relationship between her and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo).

If you’ve seen the first two instalments of the saga, then you’ll know just how romantic it is and how lovely it is to see their relationship become into something they wouldn’t have expected. Always and Forever is directed by Michael Fimognari and is all about Lara Jeans’ future plans with Peter and the reality of it.

Lara has her whole life planned out and it mostly involves Peter and starts with the couple going to Stanford University together. However, this plan isn’t as smooth a ride as Lara Jean had hoped. The goal of going to Stanford doesn’t happen for Lara Jean and leads the teenage girl to start to feel very nervous about where that will leave her relationship with Peter in the future.

The main focus of the film is uncertainty and confusion all linked together by teenage love. Following a school trip to New York City, Lara Jean grows extremely fond of the city and becomes uncertain of where she sees herself being. The movie makes Peter seem supportive of whatever Lara Jean wants but he still has some doubt about the impact it may have on the fairy-tale like romance they have created over the past two movies that have been released.

However, the storyline isn’t a complete change from what the first two were all about. The close family relationships and the strong bond Lara Jean and Peter share over the loss of a parent are included too. John Corbett and Sarayu Blue play Lara Jeans dad and step-mum, Dr Covey and Trina. The growing relationship between Lara Jean and her soon to be step-mum is lovely to watch and adds to the close family relationship that we have already seen throughout the previous movies.

To All the Boys: Always and Forever is the perfect teenage girl movie and covers all the aspects and feels of an average teenage girl’s life. It will pull at the heartstrings. Following a young-love storyline, To All the Boys: Always and Forever is a perfect watch, not only for around Valentine’s Day, but any day you fancy having a laugh, a cry or any emotion in between. It’s a must watch.

To All the Boys: Always and Forever is available to watch on Netflix.
